About

The Old Curiosity Shop: In a run-down part of London, where criminals and honest people live side-by side, Nell lives with her grandfather in the Old Curiosity Shop. When disaster strikes, Nell must try to protect herself and her grandfather from people who wish them harm, including the evil Mr. Quip. Set at the time of the Gordon anti-Catholic riots of 1780, this is Dickens's powerful, atmospheric novel of madness, murder, and lurid mob violence. It is also a tale of love thwarted by the designs of Geoffrey Haredale and the villain Sir John Chester, and the heroism of Edward Chester in rescuing the innocent Emma.
