Krip Vorland, cargo master apprentice for the free trader "Lydis" is caught up in an interstellar power play involving the mysterious beast trainer, "Maelen" of the mythical Thassa. Kidnapped by undercover agents, Vorland is spirited away right in front of his captain and crew man assigned to ensure his safety.
