Prologue In a forgotten age, during the era of wars in ancient Japan, a handful of people discovered mysterious points of energy hidden within the human body. By unlocking them, the generations that followed learned to forge extraordinary techniques — fusing their spiritual power with legendary beings and creatures out of myth. But one man surpassed them all. Having mastered every point of energy within his own body, he created a forbidden technique known as the Death Soldiers. With it, he raised an army the likes of which the world had never seen. But his own creations betrayed him. They killed their maker, preserved his corpse, hid it somewhere unknown, and drew their power from his embalmed remains ever since. The Death Soldiers spread across the earth, bringing death, ruin, and despair wherever they went. In response, the very people who had discovered these powers united against them. After countless battles, they managed to destroy most of the Death Soldiers, while the survivors vanished into the shadows, hiding throughout the world. Peace returned, eventually. Or so everyone believed. Now, someone has awakened them once more. The Death Soldiers have returned — empowered by a mysterious master — moving among humans in secret, killing from the shadows while remaining unseen. And as the shadows begin to stir once again, the journey of a boy who has lost his family twice is about to begin — a boy fated to discover that the world's destiny may be tied to his own past far more deeply than he ever imagined.
