Unfortunately, the author tends to dance around key details—seemingly in an attempt to create mystery—that ends up feeling more like the author hasn’t figured things out yet themselves. Additionally, nearly every conflict is so high-stakes that it's clear the main character won't be allowed to lose, which drains much of the tension.Story (10/12 – Excellent):The story itself is excellent. It does exactly what the cover promises, and the author does an impressive job of weaving in past plotlines in meaningful and satisfying ways. The long-term narrative payoff is well-executed and helps elevate the whole experience.Grammar (5/12 – Somewhat Poor):The grammar is frankly bad—there’s no getting around that. While the author includes edit suggestions, it doesn’t look like they’re being acted upon much. That said, they now have an editor, which is a promising sign. If the edits were better and the backlog of unedited chapters was smaller, this would easily be a "average" or even a "good". But as things stand, “somewhat poor” feels accurate.Character (11/12 – Extremely Masterful):Character work is the real highlight here. Nearly every named character feels distinct, with clear motivations and quirks. The sheer number of memorable, fully realized characters suggests either extensive note-keeping or an incredibly sharp memory on part of the author. My only gripe is that nearly everyone outside the main brothel girls seems overly backstabby—like betrayal is the default personality trait unless proven otherwise.
