Imagine a world quite different from our own. Dogs and cats walk backwards, no sun exists, it's always cold, and the land runs barren without many trees or plants. All people are assigned a colour at birth, used to mark their status and future. In this world, Colette Simons, a 17-year-old mentally ill girl, has been disguising the true state of her health. Her family, who belong to the illustrious blue colour, have been desperately trying to find a cure. The town's therapist, Ira, a middle-aged and supposedly morally superior woman, has made it her mission to uncover what is wrong at the Simons Manor. What she finds will shock her. Throughout twists and turns, after it all, Colette disappears to the other side with the eviler colours, desperate to know herself and what her future brings, but it appears she's in for a surprise as well, one more sinister and heartbreaking than she ever believed she could find.
