I died in the rain, on a road, with a phone in my hand I never got to dial. I woke up in a burning village—wearing the body of a monster. In this world, demons are born without hearts. No mercy, no memory, no self —only an endless Hunger that feeds on human fear. They are the disaster every kingdom prays against, and the Order of the Holy Flame burns them on sight. But I still remember the rain. I still remember being human. I still remember my name. I am the only demon alive with a heart—and that makes me a defect to my own kind, and a liar wearing a monster's face to everyone else. Both worlds want me dead. Worse: every time I use this monstrous power, the Hunger rises, and it devours the last human thing left in me. Grow stronger, and I become the very monster I refuse to be. So I'll find another way. I'll learn to wield the Abyss without losing myself. I'll carve out a place where everything both worlds throw away—broken demons and hunted humans alike—can finally belong. They call me a defect. One day, they'll call me their king.
