Ethan Miller is the dictionary definition of "Peaked in high school." After spending most of his teenage years on the outside of the social bubble looking in, his final year was the first time he actually enjoyed school, the first time he felt like he belonged somewhere. Then he graduated, and just like that, it was over. Two years later, all his friends had moved on, college wasn't an option, and Ethan has spent the better part of those two years lying in his room convincing himself that this is a choice. Over time he got really good at it. In fact he has whole conversations with himself convincing himself that he is the pinnacle of humanity. Then a cosmic event called the Merge displaces all of humanity overnight, and suddenly that's the least of his problems. Dropped onto a strange alien ocean with a countdown timer, a system window, and a raft. Ethan (and all of humanity) has a thousand hours to multiply his 'weight' in existence by a factor of one thousand, or cease to exist entirely. Oh and he also ends up with a second version of himself living in his head rent free. That one's his fault.
