About

Humanity's last hope arrives aboard the Icarus, a ship sent on a desperate mission to find a habitable planet after Earth becomes uninhabitable. The mission succeeds, but during the crew's celebration before returning to cryosleep, chief communications officer Peter is found murdered, poisoned in the communication room, his equipment destroyed to prevent him from sending a warning to Earth. Captain Edward splits the surviving crew into investigative teams: engineer Chris and security officer Mike examine the crime scene, while head scientist John and Dr. May analyze the poison. May's analysis reveals something shocking, the poison isn't from Earth at all, but from the newly discovered planet. This leads John to a hidden safe in his office, where he keeps vials of toxic compounds harvested during the mission. One vial is missing, and John reveals only one other person knew about the stash: Captain Edward himself. Meanwhile, Mike discovers Peter's notebook, containing a final, frantic entry: Peter was afraid of someone aboard the ship and was trying to warn Earth before he was killed. Before the crew can process this, the ship is rocked by violent tremors, the engines have been sabotaged, plunging the ship into darkness and stranding it in space. As tensions mount, alibis are questioned. Both the Captain and Chris were alone during the sabotage, and paranoia begins to splinter the crew's trust in one another. Back in the meeting room, Dr. May, now aware of both the alien poison and the Captain's connection to it, must decide whether to reveal what she knows, torn between suspicion, fear, and uncertainty about who she can actually trust. The story sets up a classic locked-room mystery: a small crew, an isolated ship, a killer among them, and a mounting body of secrets (an alien poison, a stolen vial, a saboteur) that suggest the true threat may not be human error, or may not be entirely of Earth.
