Myroslav and Danylo Bulavenko live in late 90s Ukraine. The Soviet Union collapsed a few years ago. The brothers have worked in construction with their father since they were teenagers. His sudden death brings them back to their home village to bury him. Their grandmother seems to know more and claims he was murdered. Something even worse is coming. They don’t believe her until they see the body — something drained the life out of their father. Now the brothers need to make sure their father won’t come back, and they are pulled into a world where ancient spirits hide in dark forests, upyrs and Kozak sorcerers are not fairy tales — they’re walking among us. A dark folk fantasy rooted in Ukrainian mythology. For readers of The Witcher who want the folklore the West has never read.
