Trapped inside the memory world of his former friend, Adam uncovers the secrets of his own troubled past. Maybe Adam should’ve known better than to return to his hometown. So, Adam joins the investigation to end the Taint: a weaponised affliction that alters memories. Soon, after their old friend Caine’s betrayal, the group wakes up in an otherworldly labyrinth. The scents and voices of Caine’s past linger in these caves. Here, in his twisted Realm of Remembrance, Caine’s recollections come to life. While lost cities from his happier days can still be found, traumas and other abominations are spreading their vile influence. To survive, Adam must face his own past, for Caine recalls people and events quite differently indeed… In his refusal to die, Adam even allows his whispering left heart to help him. For he’ll gladly take the sinister risk s involved if it means he can rescue his wife and son. However, will they even want Adam to, after Caine altered their memories to love himself instead? What to expect: - Worldbuilding based on human memory - Competent characters with rich backstories - Banter between old friends - An elaborate magic system - Portal fantasy with a dark tone (this is not an Isekai or LitRPG story) - Chapters are usually around 2000 words. - One chapter per week on Thursdays Hey everyone! I'm also revising the chapters that will make up Book 2. I've received some great feedback from readers, and I'm working on incorporating it to make these chapters the best they can be. I will announce on my page when I'm ready to post new and revised content on this site.  Also, I’ve decided to remove chapters 2 and 3 of this fiction from this site.
