The story follows the journey of Daeira, a 227 year old elven mage who has worked as a diplomat (and spy) for her father’s court most of her life, as she ventures into the dragon empire of Irea-Dïr to steal an uncovered relic. She arrives expecting politics, suspicion, and the cold hostility of a species that has every reason to detest her kind. What she does not expect is General Kaelith Azharyon- the Empire’s feared commander, a man carved from terrifying discipline, secrets, and barely restrained violence. He is someone who commits atrocities without remorse, rules through terror and genuinely believes mercy causes weakness. He has no patience for elven spies, soul-mages, or pretty liars who infiltrate his fortress and steal from his private chambers. Daeira should be an enemy to interrogate, a weapon to break, a political inconvenience to deliver in chains.. but someone who treats conversations as dissections, intimacy as a weapon, emotions as opportunities and morality as a flexible concept... is not an easy target to break. He hates what she represents. She hates what he represents. He distrusts her. She distrusts him. He wants nothing to do with her. She wants nothing to do with him. But ancient relics rarely take such things into consideration, obviously.
