'At first, there was nothing. Then came the mist. After the mist came the nightmare. And after the nightmare came the Barrier…' In a secluded town, an invisible boundary appears overnight in the middle of an old, off-limits bridge. Anyone who crosses it returns profoundly changed: more intelligent, calmer… but emotionally empty. Despite the disappearances and rumours, a young man decides to cross the boundary to save his sister, who has been missing on the other side for several days. ————————————————————————————————————————————————————— This is a short story that I wrote recently as a challenge for myself, featuring elements of cosmic and pyschological horror with the theme of "Frontier".
