Six months following the events of book one Narvi Sol is dealing with his own problems when Sirus comes to him and asks him to check on Noe Rom. Noe is supposed to be going to council meetings and meeting with Humans and Harikatani to alleviate tensions from the pre-truce days but mostly he's been staying in his apartment or exploring some data left on the Persephoni log for him by Sileao Silano. Noe's sister Anna seems increasingly agitated that after her first initial meeting with him. Noe continues to refuse to see her. With Heloani in power there is the promise of peace in the air, but humans in New Hari don't seem to take this change as a sign of anything other than an exchange of one dictator for another. With another year and another Gauntlet looming can the former Gauntlet winners handle their changing personal and social lives while protecting those they love caught in the cross fire.
