Tristan had been picked on for being gay since before his classmates even knew what it meant. Now a high school junior, he's convinced there’s nothing he can do to escape their taunts and torments. Marcos is the scariest guy at East High. He was expelled from his previous school for fighting. Rumors abound as to what exactly happened there. The only time he lets his guard down is around his younger brother Santi. Quite by accident, Tristan discovers that if he sticks close to Marcos the bullies leave him alone. Tristan’s bully-prevention plans are complicated, however, when he develops a serious crush on his protector. Ultimately the safest place to be is either very close, or very very far away.
